I've created a calendar entry found here, but here are the details of the all-day MTG event of Satuday 18/10/08.

To celebrate the release of Shards of Alara, this is a special all-day Magic:The Gathering Event.
Multiple events will be held along the course of the day, come Check it out! Extra prizes will be distributed to the winners of side events, with an additional Free Entry into the main event for the winner of the first Booster Draft!!!

Where: Rydges Plaza

When: Doors open @ 12:00


Main Event:

Sealed Deck - Shards of Alara
When: Registration @ 15:00, Starting @ 16:00
Sanctionned: Yes
League Sanctionned: Yes
Prizes: 1 booster = 1 win for the first 3 rounds. Extra boosters for top4!
Format: Swiss pairings, 4 rounds (or 5 if 16+ players)
Price: 90 AED


Side Events:

Booster Draft - Shards of Alara
When: Registration @ 12:30, Starting @ 13:00
Sanctionned: Yes
League Sanctionned: No
Prizes: Yes, 1.5 boosters per player distributed among top4
Additional Prize: Winner gets free entry into Main Event!!!
Format: Direct Elimination
Price: 65 AED (60 AED if 12 players)


Booster Draft - Shards of Alara
When: Whenever 8 players request it!
Sanctionned: Yes
League Sanctionned: No
Prizes: Yes, 1.5 boosters per player distributed among top4
Additional Prize: Shards of Alara Playmat for the winner!
Format: Direct Elimination
Price: 60 AED

In addition to the above events, League Matches requested on this day will count for 2 times higher K-value, earning you 2 times more points !!! Who will become the temporary champion at the issue of this day? Come and see!

If everyone wants it, we can change the format
I do think that a sealed is cool as well.

As long as we got 8 we can draft anytime you want that day (sanctionned). Even with 6 players it can be done (unsanctioned though).

I'm still not getting why we are not playing Friday Night Magic on Fridays.

holy day? who said that? i think we should play on fridays where every1 is available, heck i ll get pissed on thursday and sleep somewhere in rydges secretly so i can wake up htere 4 the event
if friday is possible so every1 can make it, do it!!! if not, than saturday is ok, but i personally perfer with every1 make it ....

Hi everyone,

Big thanks to all who showed up on this Saturday All-Day MTG event!

The first event started almost on time (13:00) and the last one was completed around 23:00, that 10 hours of MTG straight !!! WOOOOOHOOOOOO!

Since I won the drafts, the "special prizes" went to the #2 of each draft -> Mark won the Sealed Deck Free Entry and Omar won the Shards of Alara Pre-release Playmat! Congratulations to you both.

We'll do that again next month, but this time it will be organized in a mini-Grand Prix with Constructed portion of the event (Block) and a limited portion of the event (Draft), all giving points towards the same tourney.

The events were a lot of fun, I hope everyone enjoyed it as well. We were a bit too much "on a clock" to complete all 3 events in one day, so next time there will be only 2 events, with more room for trades and free play.
