Hi All,
It is great to see that seeds of my initial harvest seem to have flourished without me. I suspect Dave, you were the brain behind the site, with your artistic talent etc. great step.
I am also pleased that after yeas of 4 people drafts there are two weekly events in the calendar and FNM is meeting the pre-requisite 8 players. So it was all worth it. I doubt however that my old boss or Sharlene would agree but all those hours of traveling, emails and international phone calls have been worthwhile.
Regionals is another topic close to my heart that I have been fighting for since we originally started. As some might recall, i.e. Glen who had the proud honor of representing us (UAE) at the worlds, it used to be the case. Hasbro, for that fact have no issue with us hosting one, it is more the point of fixed players. If you can ensurer that there are 24 regular playing players, (they have set requirements), then you can host one finally. I am sure that Hasbro, could convinced to even fly in a judge so more players could play and I would be happy to TO it as I would not eligible anyway.
But I think what needs to put in perspective. 4 years ago Magic had completely died out in the Middle East. Since then there have been police raids on Pokemon cards lol. Large risks taken by Derek, who was instrumental in keeping it alive against the odds. Some hard core players who come what may, kept on turning up when we did not have enough players to hold a constructed tourney. Seeing the state of the game today, it is great and I look forward to pre-releasing this week. So keep on working on it, it appears that we are closer than ever before and this time with a solid foundation as opposed to the one left by George.
