Guess no one came last night... except for myself and Zak... not a bad way to spend 4 hours testing decks. LOL.

Hi guys, sorry, i won't be able to make it on Sat.
Zak, JayAr, Stan... I'll be at Las Pinas from Aug 8 to Aug 16. Perhaps you can tell your contacts about cards that we need... If you want me to bring some of your old cards, let me know.

We will have to postpone the release event untill next Saturday. However we will be having a standard competition instead, and will look to start at around 6.30. Hope to see you all there. yikes. All righty. To Derek, will it be possible to get the league prices while TSP block is still in standard? Thanks

BOP, was the pre-release held on July 12th sanctioned? It is not reflecting on the DCI site.

"The top ranking in the room belongs to Zach Espera, a 24-year-old Filipino with a pony tail and a hipster slouch, but he’s quick to point out that he’s only number two in the country. The number-one ranking, according to the international website, belongs to a mysterious figure who has never shown up for any of the tournaments."
Woo hoo!!!! Go Zak! Idol!!!!

no no no no combo of the days? zaks nuts little 1/1 creature that gains +3/3 for each -1/1 counter it eats!!!! Yeah.. that's my combo... Quillspike plus Devoted Druid. 1. Tap Devoted Druid for one green mana to your mana pool. 2. Untap Devoted Druid to put a -1/-1 counter on it. 3. Use the green mana to activate Quillspike's ability (remove a -1/-1 counter on target creature you control: quillspike get's +3/+3 until end of turn). Repeat process.

Unfortunately returned to my hand by JayAr. Le Sigh. Welcome back David! Apologies for the small trash talk, it's just that we missed you... You should stay in Dubai to hone your magic skills against the best in the world!!!!

Wow. Man was that pre-release so much fun! Nice pictures Dave. Perhaps Zak can post the pictures from his camera too. Not bad considering that my deck was honestly NOT that good.

I'd love to play extended and use my ravnica cards... As long as there are no turn 1 kill (aside from dragonstorm decks). LOL.

Trevor, Dave. Is there a format where the sets that you can only use are from Ravnica block onwards? Is that Type 1.5?

Type: Vintage (now restricted I believe) Name: Hulk Flash Instant 4x Flash 4 x Summoner's Pact 4 x Negation Pact Creatures 4 x Protean Hulk 4 x Desciple of the Vault 4 x Simian Spirit Guide 4 x Elvish Spirit Guide 4 x Street Wraith 4 x Archbound Ravager 4 x Phyrexian Marauder 4 x Phyrexian Walker Lands 4 x Gemstone Caverns Other lands *** The optimal starting hand is to have a Gemstone Caverns and Flash, a summoner's pact (to get Protean Hulk if you do not have it in your hand), Elvish or Simian Spirit Guide. The combo is as follows: 1. DO Not play first. This will automatically put a Gemstone Caverns into play (and the game hasn't started yet). 2. Discard a simian spirit guide to put a red mana to your mana pool. Tap Gemstone Caverns to add a blue mana to your mana pool. 3. You need Protean Hulk and Flash in your hand. Search for Protean Hulk using Summoner's Pact. 4 x Phyrexian Marauder 4 x Phyrexian Walker 6. When the Phyrexian Marauders comes into play, they automatically are killed because of their 0 toughness, hence trigerring the Desciple of the Vaults' ability. You can sacrifice the Phyrexian Walker using Arcbound Ravager. Negation pact is there to counter any spell they may have (like Force of Will); Summoner's pact to search for the Protean Hulk or Elvish Spirit Guide; Street Wraith to simply draw a card. So there you have it... a win (36 damage) before your opponent even had a chance to put down a land! Signing off.
